* More attorney fees may be charged if the case is more complicated for any reason, including but not limited to any of the following reasons: debtor is self employed, owns a business, has excessive income, expenses, assets or liabilities, debtor seeks an expedited "emergency filing," or requires or requests an adversary proceeding. Fees are not arbitrarily raised and any increase will be discussed at the time of the initial consultation or signing of a retainer agreement.
CHAPTER 13
Chapter 13 is unique because the attorney fees are typically paid in part during the 3 to 5 year payment plan (averaging about $80/mo) and may actually reduce the amount of money paid to creditors. Your case may be filed for as little as $500 up front, depending on the situation. The court approved attorney fees for Chapter 13 cases in Utah is $3,000 to $3,500, based on the complexity of the case.
